fire awareness · financial independence · retire early
last updated June 3, 2026
FIRE Awareness is a personal financial-independence dashboard, currently in private beta. It is built privacy-first: your financial data stays in your own browser by default and is never sent to our servers. This policy explains exactly what is collected, where it lives, and who can see it.
01Who we are
FIRE Awareness ("the app", "we") is an independent project operated by the developer reachable at the contact address below. The app is available at fireawareness.app and is offered as an invite-only beta.
02What we collect
Google account info — when you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, profile picture, and Google account identifier. This is the only personal information we store on our servers, and only to authenticate you and check you against our beta access list.
Your financial datastays in your browser — spending, recurring items, assets, rentals, transactions and rules that you enter or import are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage). This data is not transmitted to or stored by our servers.
Bank connections via Plaidoptional — if you connect a financial institution, Plaid returns account and transaction data. The Plaid access token is stored on our server encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM); transaction data itself is fetched live and held in your browser.
Property estimates via RentCastoptional — if you add a property, we may request a valuation from RentCast using the address you provide.
Encrypted sync bloboptional — if you enable cross-device sync, an end-to-end encrypted copy of your settings is stored on our server. It is encrypted with a key derived from a passkey on your device (Face/Touch ID). We cannot read it — the server only ever holds ciphertext.
We do not use advertising, third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or behavioral profiling.
03How we use your information
To authenticate you via Google Sign-In.
To check your email against our private beta access list and grant or queue access.
To provide the dashboard's features you choose to use (bank sync, property estimates, cross-device sync).
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
04Google user data & Limited Use
FIRE Awareness requests only the basic Google sign-in scopes — openid, email, and profile. We do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or any other Google service.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google account data is used only to sign you in and manage access — never for advertising, and never transferred to others except as needed to provide the service or as required by law.
05Service providers
We rely on a small set of providers to run the app. They process data only to perform services for us:
Financial data you enter lives only in your browser, scoped to this site's origin.
The limited server-side data (Plaid tokens, sign-in registry, sync blob) is encrypted at rest and isolated per user.
All traffic is served exclusively over HTTPS.
The optional sync feature is end-to-end encrypted; the encryption key never leaves your device.
07Data retention & your choices
Browser data: you can export or clear it at any time from within the app (or via your browser's site-data controls). Clearing it removes it permanently from that device.
Bank connections: disconnecting an institution removes its stored access token from our server.
Account deletion: email us to delete your server-side data (sign-in registry, any stored Plaid tokens, and your encrypted sync blob).
08Children
The app is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
